Making the Cushion top

  1. Take the Fabric A rectangle, and attach a 6in Fabric E segment to each short edge, and then add an 10.5in Fabric E segment to the top and bottom edges
  2. Repeat with the Fabric B rectangle, two 7.5in and two 11.5in Fabric E segments
  3. Repeat with the Fabric C rectangle, two 6in and two 5.5in Fabric E segments
  4. Repeat with the Fabric D rectangle, two 7.5in and two 4.5in Fabric E segments
  5. Join the Fabric C and Fabric A units with the 7in Fabric F segment
  6. Join the Fabric D and Fabric B units with the 8.5in Fabric F segment
  7. Join the Fabric CA and Fabric DB units with the 16in Fabric F segment

Cushion back and flange

  1. Stitch a hem along one 16in edge of each of the back pieces.
  2. Join the two Fabric F 1.5in strips to create one long length, you will need approx. 70in in total length. Press the strip in half lengthways
  3. Lay the front panel right side up on a flat surface. Matching raw edges of the flange to the edge of the cushion top, tack the flange in place all round the right side of the cushion front, joining the two ends when you return to the starting point.
  4. Right sides facing and matching raw edges all round, place the two back pieces on top of the front piece so that the hemmed edges overlap in the centre and the flange is sandwiched in the middle between both layers.
  5. Stitch each edge. Clip corners, turn through and press and then insert the cushion pad.
