The Studio is a spin off from the Loch Lomond Quilt Show, created to meet the demands of quilters for quality courses. The Studio runs regular weekly courses, occasional weekend workshops and masterclasses by visiting tutors as well as the C&G course. 2013 will be the ninth Loch Lomond Quilt Show and it takes place 15-18 May 2013.

As many colleges have been removing City & Guilds patchwork and quilting from their syllabuses, it has been left to other organisations to come up with imaginative ways to help quilters study their craft. The Studio, which is run by the Loch Lomond Quilt Show, was created to meet such a demand and runs regular weekly classes as well as single day workshops. For those who want to explore their craft further, they run a C&G Certificate class over two years, with the class taking place seven weekends a year, with a four day summer school.

The first group is just about to complete their course and have been very enthusiastic about it, with some members travelling hundreds of miles to take part. There are still a few places left on the next certificate course which starts in January and this time Ruth Higham, one of the founders of the Loch Lomond Quilt Show and tutor of the original C&G course will be joined by new tutor Gillian Cooper. Gillian is best known as a quilt artist and writer and she is looking forward to teaching C&G. A Diploma level course will also be starting in 2013.
