Our cover project this month is a chocolate and lime strippy quilt using Mandy Munroe's updated Seminole technique. We've got two new short series starting this autumn, Gillian's hotly anticipated Mystery Quilt begins with the blues, and you can make a start on Anja Townrow's sampler quilt. Anja combines subtle colours with striking designs in "Contemplation". Forum member Angela Huddart has designed some brilliant Halloween cushions for trick or treaters young or old, and we've got a beautiful triangle cot quilt by Katharine Guerrier. If you began Linzi Upton's "Silent Movie Star" quilt last month, we've brought you the borders and finishing touches in October. Last, but certainly not least, Davina has designed a delightful drawstring shoulder bag, and Elizabeth Stone has all the instructions for the latest Journal quilt, it's time to find all the sheer fabric in your stash!

Our features section includes two "Quilting Life" articles, meet Anja Townrow, the designer of many past Popular Patchwork projects, and "Contemplation" in this issue, and also Gloria Loughman, the amazing Australian quilter. We've taken a different approach to our Festival of Quilts review this year, rather than look at each competition category in terms of winners, we've each selected our Top Ten from all areas of the competition. Jane starts us off this month, she's picked some beautiful quilts from across the board, from Young Quilter to Traditional entries.
