Before Christmas I had a lovely trip to Mottisfont Abbey to see their Kaffe Fassett exhibition. I went with a friend who is a novice quilter, and on the way mentioned that she wanted to make a flowery quilt for her Mum and asked if I would help. We discussed a few ideas and I agreed to come up some possibilities for the following week. Then, when we got inside the exhibition we both absolutely loved the quilts we saw, and she was particularly in awe of the ones made from the traditional Snowball block. Over a cup of tea, I explained how it is made and over the weekend stitched a couple of examples for her. As I saw her quilt being made I was more and more tempted to make my own one. However, although I really liked what she was making, with lots of different flowery fabrics, I didn't want to make an exact copy. Then, several months ago, I was in a fabric shop in Salisbury and saw this beautiful floral fabric that was just perfect....and the rest, as they say, is history!
