The Colours of Africa Challenge 2010 is organised by Trapsuutjies Fabric Paint, in partnership with the town councils of Essen, Belgium and Witzenberg, South Africa. The challenge will raise money to build a crche for pre-school children in Tulbagh, in Cape Province. The highlight will be a two-day exhibition and auction in April 2010 in Essen. Please support this worthwhile cause by making a quilt. It's not that daunting - as the size is a more than manageable A4!
Invitation for Colours of Africa
What: Textile or fabric art A4-size. The choice of materials is your own.
Theme: Rainbow
Goal:
Annette Jeukens, Hella Sluyters, Jacqueline de Jong-van Baalen and
Laura Liebenberg are going to use the entries to construct
three-dimensional objects which will be auctioned during a textile
event in April 2010. This event is to be held in Essen in Belgium.
Proceeds: These will go to the Chris Hani-crèche in the town of Tulbagh in the Cape Province in South Africa. The Town Council of Essen has an affiliation with the Council of Witzenberg (of which Tulbagh is a part). One of the on-going projects is to erect a solid building for the crèche, which is currently housed in a shack. The aim is to develop a proper early learning centre for these pre-school children.
In
order to enable us to make the objects for the auction, Colours of Africa need many
entries! You are invited to participate and to spread
the word so that we can help the children at the Chris Hani-crèche in
South Africa.
The deadline for the rainbow-entries is
1 December 2009. Please complete an entry form from
www.coloursofafrica.be and send it with your Rainbow quilt to:
