I've been away again, and accidentally found another lovely new shop!
We went camping in North Wales recently. It was my youngest daughter's first camping trip, and she wasn't particularly impressed! It rained quite a lot, and we got pretty cold, so I decided we needed a trip to somewhere civilised to warm us all up. My quilt shop radar didn't let me down, I'd meant to research some shops before we left home, however, a leaflet in the campsite drying room informed me that we could combine a family visit to "King Arthur's Labyrinth" with "Bumble Bee Quilting", a quilt shop at the Corris Craft Centre, on the same site. Don't you just love dual purpose activities!
Bumble Bee Quilting is a lovely little shop, with a true "buzz" about it! The shop has a great dedicated workshop area, where for just £5, you can pick a fabric pack of felt shapes, fabric background and felting wool, and let your creative juices flow using one of the shops needle felt embellishers. This is supposed to be a children's activity, but I was still very keen! There was a fantastic choice of designs, and the children were taught the basics and then encouraged to experiment for 45 minutes. We didn't have time to try for ourselves, but the girls in the workshop area were evidently having a great time. This was a great value activity, I was really impressed by both the idea and production of each kit. There's even a lovely comfy sofa for bored husbands in the shop area, so Bumble Bee Quilting really make you feel welcome.
The shop had a lovely selection of fabrics and kits, and some very interesting displays. Jane undertakes commissions, and has recently produced a beautiful Avocado Family Tree wall hanging for a customer. They also produce a great monthly newsletter, with details of courses and diary dates, and news about interesting commissions and unfinished quilts. Bumble Bee Quilting is holding a special "Pink Weekend" in October to raise funds for Breast Cancer Research, you can read the story behind this event and will soon be able to find out about the planned activities at www.teresaannaquilt.co.uk
. Raffle tickets for this gorgeous Pink bed quilt can be bought from the Corris Craft Centre for £1 each or £5 per book and all proceeds are for Breast Cancer Research.
You can also buy fabric and notions online from the Bumble Bee Quilting e-shop at www.bumblebeequilting.co.uk
. I bought some great fat quarters for my Moorish wall hanging, but who knows where I've unpacked them!
