Hi all, I don't have any curved scissors, and I am going to buy some for trimming bits off the edges of postcards etc. Any advice on make etc would be gratefully recieved.

I can't remember the make of mine, I know I bought them from Beatties which is now House of Fraser. They suit me, but I dare say you will get loads of answers about this Jill. There are sooo many makes of scissors on the market, I always try to buy Fiskars as they are always good scissors. I wanted the curved ones, straight away and took a tisk buying them but this time it worked out well for me.

Sorry Jill, I cannot help. I have got some curved scissors somewhere, but honestly in all my years of sewing I have never used them. I use good quality embroidery scissors and cut very carefully.

I have a pair Jill, that I use when free motion quilting where I need to cut close to the fabric and machine needle. I also use them to trim the little bits of thread on the sides of fabric postcards. The one's I use look like this

Me too Irene...I use these type for trimming any stray threads after machine appliqueing. They are perfect.

Hi Jill

I use my curved scissors all the time for machine embroidery down to trimming edge cottons off postcards - they are brilliant. I bought mine from Barnyarns at Ripon.

Regards

Mal

I am a rubbish cheap skate, and when I need curved scissors I use nail scissors! But my postcards do have awful edges so it is not to be recommended!

Oh Irene

I love the look of those curved scissors, I think I am going to treat myself to a pair of those. I like the way they curve along the blade and handle in a continuous line if you see what I mean. Need to order some thread so will whack that on the order. Thanks for the heads up on them.

Katy,

just what are we going to do with you, it is a clever idea but really, are they sharp enough for the job????

Your postcards DO NOT have awful edges, stop running yourself down girl. I wont have it you know.
