Winnie and Jan - I can remember my mum showing me how to get the horizontal line by pulling a thread. Would that then mean the selveges would hand together? Jan I will check your album out - I somehow missed this page?

Just seen your album Jan - pulling a thread would not work then. I did not know about 3 on and 2 off the ruler - thank you.

Hi Sandy - I THINK I'm right in saying that pulling a thread will definitely get you a sraight line on th ehorizontal but it will not necessarily be at right angles to the selvedges!! In principle, if you lined up the edges with the pulled thread, you would then have to make your "straightening cut" down th elenght of th eselvedge - but that is not the best of ideas!!! So, would definitely recommend sticking to Jan's method!

Cheers Winnie/Margaret xx

Hi Katy,

I posted my strips this afternoon having seen the weather forecast, nothing but rain for the next couple of days. I can't get my car out of the garage as the door's too stiff for me to lift at the moment, so that meant I had to walk and there's no way I was going to walk that far in the rain!

Alison.

I think I am having a 'senior' moment! Talking to Jan this morning (over two or was it three coffees???) I seem to have got hold of the wrong end of the stick. Do you mean solid red (as Jan thinks it is and she is probably right) or red and white fabric???? By solid I mean something like Crackles, Spraytime, Marbles, Fusions etc?

Help!!!! - I hope it's not what Jan thinks it is - I have already bought and started to cut my strips - mine is a traditional red background floral - I understood that the "white" was going to come from our "own" white strips or possibly from whites included in the primarily red fabrics! Did I get it wrong??
