| 25 forum posts 7 photos | Hello all, I would welcome some advice please as I am very unsure of myself - skills, ideas etc. I have bought a panel of cats, fronts and backs. It measures 25"x44", now I am not sure what to do with apart from making a draught excluder that is fat at the bottom and thin at the top - the cats are 'joined' together in a line so are not easy to work separately. We have several little girls in the family, from 6months to 60+yrs! and I had thought of starting on the Christmas presents! I do hope you have some more ideas. Thanks in anticipation, PennyfromEastYorkshire |

The first thing that came to my mind was.....can the cats be cut out individually? If they can you could bondaweb them each to a separate piece of fabric, satin stitch around the outside to secure them and make pillows. Each of the background fabrics for each pillow could be a different colour and the cat would be in the middle. Hope that makes sense.

| 25 forum posts 7 photos | Thanks Tessa, I have just uploaded a pic of the panel - not sure if cutting individually would work, what do you think? |

138 forum posts 105 photos | Yes,this is tricky as the cats are not whole, but maybe as suggested you can cut out each cat and back and make cushions with one cat face on front of cushion and back of same cat on reverse of cushion. I have a draught excluder very similar so if you don't want to cut it up I am sure a 'catty friend' would love it made up as it is. |

I see what you mean....just had a look at the picture in your album. MMMmmmm....not sure what you could do. You could try the suggestion by 'quilt and patch' about front and back cushions...other than that I'm lost. So sorry my dear.
Tessa
p.s. It certainly would make a cute draught excluder....

455 forum posts 64 photos | Could you make a small lap quilt with the cats as the bottom and top borders? Back of cats at bottom of quilt as if looking at the centre design, and front of cats at top looking at you.
Or you could make a draught excluder!
Margaret
P.S. I've got that fabric somewhere in my stash! |

Tessa
or...she could just make a draught excluder. ![]() |

2771 forum posts 380 photos 3 articles | I had a similar thing years ago, but teddies. I quilted it as a hanging and was going to have the faces showing if I was having a good day, and the 'bums' if I wasnt. That was the plan anyway. I thought in retrospect the 'Bums' would be showing too much!!!!!!
Good idea from Margaret, I may search mine out and unpick it....one day. Unless anyone on here wants it. When I find it that is.

677 forum posts 94 photos | Hello Penelope, I would buy more http://www.firesidefabrics.co.uk/ fabric and have a complete border (ie 4 sides) of the kitties on a lap quilt.Does anyone use draught excluders these days?!!!! Ros Edited By Ros on 21/07/2010 09:17:53 |

| 25 forum posts 7 photos | Thanks for all the suggestions for my cat panel - I gave up in the end as their tails got in the way! Wrapped around each other back and front meant that to cut them into individuals - or cushion covers, I would chop off tails and some would have two tails and some would be no-tail cats!
So, no quilting or patchwork, just straight forward cutting and sewing!
However, a certain three year old who loves cats with a passion will be delighted with this - I hope!
