Any one doing the mystery quilt?

| 8 forum posts | Well done Pris, your improvisations really worked. If it's any consolation, you're not the only person I know who went wrong in month one. A couple of people in my group who did it had the same problem. I just know I would do something like that too - I'm always in too much of a hurry to stop and read instructions properly. (That applies to anything, not just patchwork). I can tell you it can get me into a lot of difficulties at times! How are you going to quilt yours? I, like Katy, used an all-over pantograph, which I loved and did it on my computerised mid-arm quilting set-up. Sue |

| 95 forum posts 14 photos | Oh dear, This one I keep thinking about and not quite sure how to tackle it. I may as you say quilt an all over. Then I may quilt all over the background and then diagonal lines through the centre of the small squares. I have left it hanging in my sewing room and have a peep each time I go up and screw my eyes up to find the dominant lines. Not sure how that works ! Pris |

| 95 forum posts 14 photos | Hi Caz, you back already. Have you enjoyed your holiday? Caz the bits in places are a bit hit and miss but I am getting there with the quilting because the weather has not been good. My eyes were a bit crossed yesterday. I certainly agree and love Katy's quilt and to get it all together on the largest size looks terrific. Pris |

2398 forum posts 235 photos | Hi Girls, I have finished the mystery. Just don't look to closely at it. There were some mistakes along the way. I used free-motion quilting in the triangles near the centre block and around the orange border. My first time of using the free-motion method. I enjoyed doing it though. Caz |

| 8 forum posts | I t looks great Caz, well done on your first attempts at free motion quilting too. That's something I've never been able to get to grips with - I keep forgetting to breathe! Thanks for sharing the picture of your finished quilt with us. Sue |

| 95 forum posts 14 photos | Well done Caz, Free motion quilting opens up such a lot of things doesn't it. You certainly did well and your quilt really is lovely. Well I free machined mine by what I call 'doodling' all the background to try to push it away and leave the design hanging in mid air. The cross sections were plain straight stitch using the walking foot through each square diagonal corner to diagonal corner to suspend it. Then straight again through the remaining squares. I shall now try to put the photo through. Pris ![]() |
