Well folks, I went to FoQ....Wow!!!! I'm pretty much speechless the quilts were just beautiful, I feel like a total klutz now and wonder why I waste time, energy and fabric doing this thing I call quilting because it sure ain't quilting compared to what I saw today.

Wonderful and I can't wait till next year!!!!

Tessa's strips arrived safe and sound and I just know the post will be full of more as the days go by!

I have to go soak my feet now,

Bye,

Kimberly

Hi Kimberley,

I know how you feel. I went last year and came back vowing never to attempt another quilt after seeing the spectacular ones on show. It's quite painful, but the memory dims with time - out come the fat quarters and sewing machine - and away you go!

My feet have only just recovered from last year's marathon and I'm there again on Sunday for the day with a local quilt group - 30 of us. It'll be fun.

Babs

PS. Off to Harrogate Show on the 5th September. Now that's a nice cosy quilt show that I really enjoy.

Hi Kimberly,

Glad the strips made it safely.....am really looking forward to this project.  Have spent the whole day rearranging the sewing room.....it started off as a 9' x 9' room full of quilting stuff and ended up a 9' x 9' room full of ......oh my Lord....even more quilting stuff......I emptied 3 boxes from the loft and found my Go Wild With Quilts books....mostly paper foundation piecing but fabulous patterns. ....and tons more stuff....

The mug my daughter bought me years ago....'The Quilter that dies with the most fabric - Wins'.....is still in a box somewhere....need to find it.

Off to bed.....hopefully will be at the Harrowgate Show again this year....not sure which day...but would love to meet up with another member or members if possible.

Nite Gang,

Tessa

I'd love to go to Harrogate, but my holidays at work are dwindling fast after scheduling a three week trip to the states. Next year maybe I'll just take a day without pay...and go anyway.

It got very crowded after lunch time, the shops were just so full of us folks you couldn't even see the fabric or get to the counters to pay for it. I got a bit claustraphobic and bailed on some beautiful stuff. Now of course I'm kicking myself in the bum for not buying it.  At £5 a metre I was really a chump.

Ricky Tims was there and being a good ol' Country Boy he even helped when my camera wouldn't work right. He took a great shot of my friends feet! LOL! I bought his dvd about machine quilting so perhaps I'll not be quite so embarrassed by the quality of my work next year.

Now I'm off to check the drying of the strip fabric on the line. Then up stairs to clean out MY sewing room. Tessa, I'm jealous, my sewing room isn't quite 9x9 I have part of the stairs head-room in there. There is a cupboard above it, so I have storage there. Time to just sort through stuff and organize it a bit.

Cheers, Have fun if you go to FoQ, and wear comfy shoes!

Hi Everyone,

I hate to put a dampener on anything but please may I point out a problem experienced by our group of Round Robins.

If you send anything larger than a flat envelope please take it into the Post Office to have it measured for size and thickness .  If you fail to put enough postage on the person on the receiving end for this package, will receive a card only,  informing of underpayment  AND YOU WILL BE GIVEN 7 DAYS YES 7 DAYS TO RESPOND BEFORE IT IS DESTROYED.    NO ALLOWANCE FOR HOLIDAYS ETC.

We have lost a lot of  work and it has spoiled the fun of completed quilts . The Post Office will not listen to us,  that this is not long enough to  allow for a response, especially during peak holiday months.

Also don't forget to put a return address on the back.

Priscilla.

Thanks for the advice Priscilla, However, since I'm advising everyone to put the same return postage on their self-addressed, stamped envelope as they put on the package to me...it shouldn't be a problem. Since I will be taking all packages to the Post Office and checking postage on each, it will be fine.

So far. 5 sets of strips have arrived;

Cath, Tessa, Allison, Caz and of course mine(guess they don't count as having arrived do they?). They all co-ordinate so perfectly, it's great!

It's raining this morning, guess I'll have to quilt!!!!

Hi All,

I'm really looking forward to the Strips arriving, I have a few ideas tumbling around in my brain.

I'm so glad they are co-ordinating, as I was just a little worried about my choice.

Caz.

OK Folks,

Here is the Roll Call for the Strippers! Get your tassels turning...or Rotary cutters as the case may be.

OH! if anyone is allergic to cat dander, please let me know and I'll unwrap, sort and re-wrap everything at a friends house. I have only one cat, but that's more than enough if you're allergic!

Jenny B just sent me her strips and I want to comment on something she put in her little note. She hoped I don't mind recycled envelopes! Oh of course not! I have gotten several already and I use them all the time! So please, if you can, save a tree and re-use an envelope!

Happy Quilting or get out side and enjoy the sunshine while we've got it!

In case you are wondering... I have moved the latest news on the Autumn Strip Swap from the main part of the homepage to a "pod" (that's those boxes down each side of the page) on the left hand side.

So if you scroll up this page (or any other for that matter) you will see "Autumn Strip Swap" in a box with a pretty Autumn Journal Quilt picture. If you click on the text you will see a page with the most up-to-date instructions on it.

Keep discussing the swap here, but if you want the official latest news try the pod for a summary! I don't want to clog up the homepage with bits that only a few of us are interested in! if this becomes irritating, or people struggle to find the information they need, I'll find another way of doing it.
