Hilary, I wish I could come to your show, my Dad was in the choir at St Thomas' when he was a boy. Unfortunately it's the same day as my daughter's birthday party, and I can't fit it all in. Id love to see some pictures after the event if you take any!
Hi - Katy I'm very glad to get the notification of a thread reply to my posting - unfortunately I have no idea how to access this reply - when I use your link I can't see anything that looks like a reply to my posting. I'm sure I'm being really stupid but as a fairly experienced IT user I have to say I find your site very confusing. I'm not even sure how I managed to put in my original posting (an item for the events listing), and, more importantly, whether you have seen it and wll list my event in the mag.
Please help!! I'd love to be a fully contributing member of the forum if only I could work out how!!
I'm sorry that you are having trouble. This section of the forum is an attempt to manage Diary Dates semi automatically, without too much fuss, I'm sorry if it seems to be awkward and make matters worse.
If you look at the messages preceding this one on this page, you will see that there are a few posts after your event posting and before this reply. Each time anyone posts a message in this thread you will get a notification message. This is because the "Email me when a response is made" checkbox was ticked when you made your post. In an ordinary thread, you would expect a follow on comment from your post so that would make a lot of sense.
This thread is only for people to submit event listings, so there isn't really a normal reply response. From now on I will ensure that I acknowledge every post individually, but please bear in mind that this means everyone in the thread will receive that message, which may be irritating or confusing for everyone else, as it was for you today. I hadn't explicitly replied to your posting, someone else had added another entry which I had replied to, and which caused you to receive the notification.
If you look on our events page you will see that your event is listed in the dates for October. This will now automatically be included in the magazine, as I will submit it when we go to print. if your event had been in say July, then it would have missed the deadline, and so would appear on the website, but not in the correct issue of the magazine. You can always check that I have seen your post by looking at the Events page to see that I have added the correct information. I am honestly quite confident that I haven't missed a post yet, but I am human and it is possible.
The reply notification system is more appropriate in the other forum threads, so please don't be put off by your experience here. I'm really sorry that you are disappointed in the way the forum works, so please feel free to make suggestions for improvement and we'll try to sort it out. I can phone you if I've just been more confusing, just email me at katy.purvis@magicalia.com if you need any further info.
Many apologies, I had listed your event with the incorrect date, so you would not have seen it in the correct place. It is now correct, I'm very sorry for the error.

Katy, your reply to Anne 11/06 has made clear some things which have been troubling me. I too find the proceedure rather cumbersome and and have become allergic to the automatic reply notification, which often doesn't seem necessary!
Now I understand the reasoning behind it, it seems I can safely cancel my "automatic response" without effecting the exhibition listings in any way.
If I've still got it wrong, do let me know. Have a good weekend!
